SUPPLY LIST
Following are some of the art supplies I will be using in
workshop demonstrations. This does not assume
that everyone will need exactly the same materials.
All artists experiment with new colors and papers and this list is given as background information only.

Watercolor Paper ¼ - ½ sheet watercolor paper for each workshop day 140 - 300 lb weight, Arches cold press or block

For demonstrations I usually paint on Arches Bright White 140 or 300 pound paper, hot or cold press. Demonstrations will be on half sheets but you may
wish to paint on quarter sheets (11x15"). I prefer 300# papers but 140# papers are perfectly acceptable.

Brushes are an individual choice. I use a 3 inch wide flat sky brush and assorted smaller brushes and especially the flat rounded edge 'filbert' style brushes. I find that good quality synthetic brushes such as
Robert Simmons ‘white sable’ series work well and are economical.

Paint I have used Winsor & Newton professional grade watercolors almost exclusively for the past 30 years so this list is for W&N colors. The first three I would never be without.

Winsor Blue (green shade)
Winsor Red
New Gamboge Yellow
Cerulean Blue
Cobalt Blue
Winsor Yellow
Sap Green
Burnt Sienna
Raw Sienna
Terre Verte Green
Ultramarine Blue
Alizerin Crimson
Quinacridone Gold
Permanent Rose
Indian Red

Masking Frisket I usually demonstrate using masking frisket and generally have small amounts for participants to try if they do not have their own. Good brands include Pebeo and Cheap Joes but other brands will work if fresh and handled correctly. Disposable brushes are nice to use with frisket.

Backing I will show how I use foamcore or other lightweight backing board for stretching, and wide
packaging tape for a dry stretching. Other useful materials include tracing paper, spray bottle & paper towels. I use a large divided water container and a
variety of palettes.
