Inside the Outside - An in depth look at abstract from the landscape
Acrylic Mixed Media
Oct. 3 - 7, 2011 CLASS IS FULL

Studio / Plein Air

Torpedo Factory artist Marsha Staiger's workshops are exciting, informative, fun, and challenging for beginning, intermediate or
advanced painters. An energetic working artist, she is a seasoned instructor with a teaching career of more than 30 years. Her artwork has been included in national and international exhibitions group and one artist exhibitions while maintaining a studio 322 at the Torpedo Factory Arts Center for the past decade. "inside the outside - an in depth look at abstract from the landscape" will reinforce the elements of art and their principles as well as acrylic technique via demonstration, printed material and critique.

“I am excited to lead a week long journey that will immerse each of you into the structure of a painting and the how tos to make it “your” work of art. Call and response sets the stage for finding inspiration via plein air and releasing your personal response to it in an abstract and intuitive manner. Color is the most obvious tool that I use but all of the elements have to be considered when you adjust your free response to nature. Maine fuels an artist imagination as the landscape stimulates a creative response. The class will work in the workshop area as well as with plein air studies. Working with acrylics on site gives the ability to capture the light, sound and rhythms on location . Critiques will be an important tool to define and perfect your personal vision.”
