Watercolor Workshops are numerous, as many different styles AS ARTISTS. After several advanced degrees in Art, Judi comes to the workshop process prepared in the classical sense of the word, but what is paramount is the FUN involved with the sharing process. You will laugh! Guaranteed!
Painting out of doors in the teeth of the gale, with your feet among the weeds and the blowing sands may not sound like fun. BUT IT IS! The instructor prides herself in sharing anything that she has learned over 40 years, with a sense of humor and a spontaneity that fosters student enthusiasm. All materials are explained and shown. Next is a lecture/demonstration, hopefully kept to an hour approximately, so that the student painting time can begin. Judi believes that the WORKSHOP IS YOURS, not hers. Staying with this group and helping where needed boosts the confidence of the students and allows a "getting to know" situation.

Supply List:
Bring the materials you have. The following list is for your reference and only a suggestion.
Watercolor paper: I use Arches, Kilamanjaro and Fabriano in 140#. I have drawing paper cut to fit the size of the watercolor paper that I work on, therefor giving me design space.
Drawing: Bring a sketchbook and some pens like the Faber-Castell Pitt Artist pens.
Brushes: Bring what you have. I use a 2" muslin brush made by Langnickle and called the Magic Brush in Cheap Joe's catalogue. I use the same brush in 1 1/2" and 1" sizes Also, flat 1" brush, round #14 and a few highliners (riggers) in #4 and 6.
Paint: Bring what you have. I use either Winsor Newton, American Journey or DaVinci. Colors: New Gamboge, Yellow Ochre, Cad orange, Cad red, Permanent Alizarin, Burnt Sienna, Sap Green, French Ultramarine, Cobalt and Manganese blues.
Easel: A half size french easel - Grumbacher, Julian or a lighter more packable version called the Anderson art easel.
Palette: I use a fold over Holbein like palette that fits into the half french easel.
Important: Please do not feel you have to go out and get all of this list. It is only a suggestion.
Art supplies are available at the Workshop Center and easels are available for rent.
