Nature and Seascape Photography - Digital Only

Summer in Maine is alive with colorful flora, pronounced textures and dramatic light. Join us for a week of exploring coasts, harbors, meadows and the villages on the island, learning to fine-tune your photographic eye.
This Digital Photography class is best for intermediate to advanced photographers, with a good knowledge of their equipment. We will study how to see optimal lighting conditions, selective focus, macro photography, composition, and using telephoto and wide-angle lenses creatively. We will have class field trips in the early morning and at dusk, to catch the best light. Mid-day will involve reviewing images and discussions. One day will be reserved for individual exploration.
We suggest you bring your own laptop, equipped with Photoshop Elements or Photoshop CS2, for editing images. The instructor will provide one laptop and printer to be shared. Everyone is asked to bring a 50-sheet package of printer paper, either Epson Presentation Matte or Kodak Ultra Premium paper (matte or glossy). We will also have limited supplies of paper available in the workshop store. Participants will get the most benefit by bringing lenses with focal abilities for wide-angle (18-24 mm), normal length (50-100 mm), and zoom lengths (150-200+ mm). Make sure to have extra memory cards, an extra battery, and appropriate battery charger. A tripod is strongly suggested, but not required. No portfolio is required for acceptance, but please bring 10-15 8"x10" prints of some recent work.
Deb Venuti has spent the last 20 years as a professional photographer. Though accomplished in portrait and commercial photography, her main love is nature and landscapes. Now the owner of Dragonfly Art with Wings art studio, Deb also teaches digital photography at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and is the current President of the Andovers' Artists' Guild in North Andover, MA.
